Dr Chaim Weizmann, president of the World Zionist Organization, has withdrawn as candidate for election to the Zionist Congress from Austria.

Dr. Weizmann was put forward as the leading candidate in Austria on the list of adherents of the Weizmann policy. The Radical Zionists put for ward as his opponent the President of the Zionist Federation of Austria, Dr. Goldhammer. The campaign which had been carried on gave rise to a fear that it may result in another split in the Austrian Zionist Federation, which Dr. Goldhammer, during his period of office had been endeavoring to consolidate.

It was learned that Chief Rabbi Dr. Chujes, who is a strong adherent of Dr. Weizmann and his policy, had written to Dr. Weizmann asking him to withdraw his candidacy, urging that the consolidation work carried on by Dr. Goldhammer in the Austrian Zionist Federation is more important than the demonstration involved in Dr. Weizmann’s nomination.

The Zionist Revisionists have put forward two candidates, Vladimir Jabotinsky and Dr. Wolfgang von Weisl. The Hitachduth and the Poale Zion have also named their own candidates.

Officers of the T. M. H. A. and Y. W. H. A. of Hartford, Conn, are preparing for the formal opening of the new peadquarters recently occupted by the two organizations.

The now quarters includes meeting rooms, gymnasium, library. offices, and showers.
