Mandelstamm’s Widow Dies in Philadelphia

Mrs. Fanny Mandelstamm, widow of the late Professor Leo Mandelstamm, Russian Jewish scholar, died in Philadelphia at the age of 78.

Mrs. Mandelstamm arrived in the United States 38 years ago following the death of her husband.

Rabbi Abraham A. Neuman, Associate Professor of History at Dropsie College, and for nine years rabbi of Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, will be installed as rabbi of Mikveh Israel Congregation, Philadelphia on Sunday

Dr. David de Sola Pool, of the Spanish-Portuguese Congregation Shearith Israel of New York, will deliver the installation sermon.

The installation prayer will be offered by Rabbi Mortimer J. Cohen, Rabbi of Beth Shalom Congregation and Vice President of the Philadelphia Board of Jewish Ministers, of which Doctor Neuman was recently elected President.

The address of welcome will be delivered by D. Hays Solis-Cohen, President of Mikveh Israel Congregation. Greetings from the B’nai Jeshurun Congregation will be brought by United States Congressman Benjamin M. Golder, Chairman of the Board of Directors of that Congregation. Dr. Cyrus Adler. President of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, will deliver an address.
