Jewish scholars throughout the world will extend felicitations to Prof. George Foot Moore on October 15, when he will attain his seventy-sixth birthday.

Since 1904, Prof. Moore has occupied the Chair of History of Religions at Harvard University.

Besides scores of scholarly studies on the Old Testament, Prof. Moore is the author of “Literature of the Old Testament.” His monumental work, “History of Religions” was published several years ago.

His newest work, “Judaism in the First Centuries of the Christian Era, the Age of Tannaim”, has recently been published by the Harvard University Press. This work is the outcome of studies extending over a period of thirty years and presents the problem in a new light, independent of the established doctrine of the superiority of Christianity over the contemporary religion of the Pharisees. Prof. Moore’s “Judaism” is likely to destroy many of the current prejudices and misrepresentations concerning Rabbinic Judaism.
