Hungarian political circles were agog today following Count Bethlen’s announcement that the Hungarian government intends in the near future to abolish the numerus clausus limiting the number of Jewish students in the Hungarian universities. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Bethlen at a conference of the government party yesterday.

Minister of Education Klebelsberg announced to the press that paragraph 3 of the numerus clausus law will immediately be declared invalid.

It is believed here that the decision of the Hungarian government is due to the intervention of the League of Nations.
