A resolution protesting against the treatment of Jews in Roumania, adopted by the Harmony Club of this city, was forwarded to President Coolidge, to Secretary of State Kellogg and the American diplomatic corps in Roumania.
The resolution read: “Whereas Harmony Club of Utica is reliably informed that the Roumanian government is permitting violent persecutions and is taking no measures to prevent barbarous and cruel treatment of innocent Jewish adults and children, and whereas the Harmony club is composed of representative American citizens of Jewish faith, this resolution protesting against the cruel and in-human treatment is adopted and the President is urged to use his influence to alleviate the persecution of the Jews in Roumania according to the precedent set by the late Theodore Roosevelt.”
The conference of Jewish organizations called by the American Jewish Congress to arrange a mass meeting to protest against the anti-Jewish riots in Roumania will be held on Sunday, December 18 at the Town Hall Club. The committee in charge consists of Dr. A. J. Rongy, Louis Lande, Max L. Hollander and Leo Wolfson.
