A gift of $50,000 to the Helen Keller Endowment Fund was made by Felix M. Warburg at a meeting of the Finance Committee of the American Foundation for the Blind, Inc., New York City.
Mr. Warburg, Chairman of the Finance Committee, said that John D. Rockefeller, Jr. had contributed $50,000 and would consider a further contribution when the fund had reached $500,000.
“The Foundation,” continued Mr. Warburg, “is virtually dependent upon the support of voluntary contributions from the general public. In order that we might not be obliged to appeal indefinitely for small contributions with which to carry on our work, the Helen Keller Endowment Fund for $2,000,000 was inaugurated. Largely through the splendid efforts of Miss Keller, over $500,000 has accumulated to date.”
A gift of $10,000 to be used for educational purposes was given to the Y. M. and Y. W. H. A. of St. Louis. Mo. by the family of the late William and Dinah Stix. A fund is to be established the interest of which is to be used for educational and cultural purposes.
