Statesmen and Leaders Pay Tribute to His Achievements
Nathan Straus, Grand Old Man of American Jewry, benefactor of Palestine and leading philanthropist, celebrates his eightieth birthday today, Sunday, January 29th.
Messages of congratulation from all parts of the world were received at Mr. Straus’s home, ‘Driftwood,’ at Mamaroneck, N.Y.
On this occasion many tributes were paid to Mr. Straus in a special Nathan Straus issue of the “New Palestine,” the official organ of the Zionist Organization of America and in an album prepared by Herman Bernstein containing messages from President Coolidge, the Governors of twenty-eight States and many other prominent statesmen and leaders.
Among the Governors who have voiced their tribute to Mr. Straus is Alfred E. Smith of New York.
