Jewish Telegraphic Agancy

A petition for a review of the verdict against Oscar Slater, was submitted to the Scotch Seacretary of State. A date for the hearing has not been fixed.

Oscar Slater was released from Peterhead prison, after he had served eighteen years on the charge of having murdered an aged Glasgow woman. His release was obtained upon a report of a Committee of the House of Commons to the effect that in their judgment Slater was unjustly convicted. An appeal has been authorized in an effort to secure the setting aside of the verdict of conviction and the ordering of a new trial to establish his innocence.
