The annual Convention of the American Ort which will deal with the problems of Jewish reconstruction in Eastern and Central Europe will take place on Sunday, April 22d at the Hotel Pennsylvania.

Delegates will attend, representing the Workmen’s Circle, Independent Order Brith Abraham, Indpendent Order B’nai Brith, Independent Order Brith Sholom and Free Sons of Israel, the United Hebrew Trades, International Ladies Garment Workers Union, Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America, the Federation of Polish Jews in America, United Roumanian Jews of America and Federation of Ukrainian Jews of America.

The convention will consider ways and means of aiding the declassed Jews of Russia who are at present without work and deprived of citizenship and ways of aiding the 50,000 Jewish apprentices in Poland whose right to labor and to become master workmen is threatened by the law recently passed which makes examination before a special commission of master workmen after a three years training in a vocational school obligatory.

“Reconstruction and not philanthropy” will be the slogan at the Convention.
