Dr. John Slawson Chosen New Director Detroit Jewish Welfare Federation

Dr. John Slawson has been elected managing director of the Jewish Welfare Federation of Detroit, his term of office to begin Sept. 1, it was announced on Thursday morning. Dr. Slawson succeeds Morris D. Waldman, who resigned to become executive secretary of the American Jewish Committee.

Dr. Slawson was investigator and psychologist of the New York State Board of Charities for four years, and for another four years was director of research and community organizations of the Jewish Welfare Federation of Cleveland.

Prior to his holding the position with the New York State Board of Charities, he was for one year instructor at the College of the City of New York and was research assistant of the Department of Education in New York City.

Dr. Slawson is the author of “The Delinquent Boy,’ a standard book on juvenile delinquency.
