Utica Synagogue Saved from Conflagration

The House of Israel, the largest synagogue in Utica. was saved from fire yesterday by the timely arrival of firemen.

A pile of shingles in the rear of the basement, almost directly under the Ark, broke out in flames. The firemen succeeded in confining the flames to the basement, with a minimum of damage caused.
