Tribute to the late Joseph Barondess who died on Tuesday in New York was paid by Louis Marshall, Felix M. Warburg and Dr. Lee K. Frankel, who are now in London in connection with the sessions of the Non-Partisan Palestine Survey Commission.
“Joseph Barondess was always ready to place himself at the disposal of every work for the benefit of Jews,” declared Mr. Marshall when informed by the representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency of the death of Mr. Barondess. “He did noble work and his passing will be a great loss.”
Mr. Warburg said he was “deeply shocked by the passing of this good and noble man who always was ready to help his coreligionists. He was always willing to shoulder the burden of work. There is none to replace him.”
Dr. Lee K. Frankel said: “His death is a real loss to the community. He had a tremendous influence in moulding the New York Jewish Community.”
Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the World Zionist Organization, declared: “In Barondess’s death, the Zionist movement loses a devoted and active worker.”
The funeral services for Joseph Barondess will take place today from the Riverside Funeral Parlors, 76th Street and Amsterdam avenue.
It was previously announced that the funeral would take place on Wednesday.
