Young Judaea Adopts Budget of $36,000

The creation of a Department of Education for Young Judaea was decided upon at the closing session of the organization at the Hotel Scarboro here yesterday. The department is to concern itself with literature and books for the Young Judaea clubs and will be under the supervision of a paid director.

A new financial policy of self-support was decided upon and a budget of $36,000 adopted. One third of the budget will be met by a drive among club members, another third by drives in the communities where the clubs are active and the rest by a campaign conducted in New York as heretofore.

Louis Lipsky. B. Shelvin, David Tannenbaum and S. J. Borowsky addressed the final session.

Dr. Israel Goldstein was re-elected president, David Tannenbaum, Irwin Chanin, Mrs. Archibald Silverman, vice-presidents: Irving Rosenzweig, reasurer and Samuel J. Borowsky, executive chairman.

Esther Davis of New York City won the national oratorical contest held last night. She will be awarded a round trip to Palestine. The second prize of $100 went to Helen Ruth Krueger of Boston.

By a decision of the convention, a drive for $2,000 will be conducted among the clubs for Hebrew scout literature in Palestine. A permanent scout committee is also to be organized.
