In order to increase Pittsburgh’s contribution to the constructive upbuilding of Palestine, th e Pittsburgh Zionist District has decided to establish a colony in Palestine to be known as “Nachlath Pittsburgh.” For this purpose no less than $50,000 will be given to the Jewish National Fund, the land-buying agency which secures the soil of Palestine as the inalienable property of the Jewish people. This announcement was made by Isaac H. Rubin. Secretary of the Jewish National Fund, as the result of action taken by the Pittsburgh Zionist District on July 19.
The Pittsburgh Zionists, in adopting the resolution authorizing the disbursement of the money, exxpressed the hope that their example would be followed by other Zionist districts throughout the country, so that the land of Palestine might more speedily become the property of the Jewish people.
Dr. M. B. Lichtenstein is president of the Pittsburgh Zionist District, and Rev. M. Gunsberg, secretary. The committee which is negotiating with the Jewish National Fund for purchase of the land consists of Adolph Ellis, chairman, and S. L. Fuss. M. Engelberg. Dr. H. M. Snitzer and Emil Steinbach.
