A new extension of time for residents in the newly acquired Roumanian provinces wishing to apply for Roumanian citizenship was granted by the Roumanian government.
The final date for making such application has now been set for the end of December 1928. This extension is of particular importance to those residents in the territories who are in the category of “optants,” having been given the choice by the international peace treaty of remaining citizens of the state to which the territory belonged previously or to apply for Roumanian citizenship. Many applicants of this category were refused Roumanian citizenship. The new date will enable them to appeal against the decision. This prolongation will provide new possibilities for a large number of Jewish residents whose applications were previously refused.
