The failure of the Concordia, a Roumanian Jewish insurance company, has affected a great number of Jewish families in the country.
The majority of the policy holders were Jewish artisans and workingmen in Moldavia and Bessarabia. A number of outraged policy holders raided the offices of the company, demolishing the furniture, when payments were suddenly stopped. The authorities established that 60,000,000 lei were missing from the company’s treasury.
Lupu and Goldstein, two of the directors, were arrested and will shortly be tried.
