Dr. Israel Wolf Vladislaus Asch, a leading authority on silicates, died here. He conducted his research work in connection with silicates together with his brother Dr. P. Asch, with whom he wrote his work on silicates, which the University of Goettingen awarded the Benecke prize.

Dr. Asch also devoted himself to Jewish philosophic studies. In his works he sought to reconcile science and Judaism.
