(Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

Joseph Werner, who had taken an active part in the life of the Jewish community here, mysteriously disappeared from the steamer Rio Bravo en route to Hamburg, according to word received here.

No particulars explaining the disappearance were received. At a meeting held at the Y. M. H. A. hall here, representatives of the Jewish community mourned him as dead. Tribute was paid him for the work he accomplished as president of the Jewish school here and as former secretary of the Y.M.H.A. The school committee resolved to name the school after him.
