Encouragement of tourist traffic by automobile to Mount Nebo was urged by the Mayor of Medaba, the nearest city to the mountain, following the accomplishment of Dr. A. F. Futterer, who reached the top of the Mount by automobile on Monday.

Following Dr. Futterer’s accomplishment, the Mayor addressed a request to the Palestine government, asking that a road be constructed from Jerusalem to Nebo, which lies nine miles east of the Northern end of the Dead Sea:

Mount Nebo is believed to be the Pisgah of the Bible, from which, according to Deuteronomy, Moses, just before his death, surveyed the promised land. Dr. Futterer of the Los Angeles Bible, Institute, has secured permission from the Palestine government to seek the Ark of the Covenant, which he believes to have been buried on Nebo following the destruction of the First Temple.
