A New Year’s message to the members of the Metropolitan League of Young Women’s and Young Men’s Hebrew Associations was sent by Mrs. Felix M. Warburg. The letter, addressed to the Metropolitan League, read:

“It is indeed with great pleasure that I respond to your request to send a message of greeting to the members of the Metropolitan League for the New Year.

“My heartiest well-wishes to all of the constituent members of the Young Men’s and Young Women’s Hebrew Association and the Jewish Welfare Board. The activities and splendid progress of this affiliated group continue vitally to enlist my interest. There are certain inherent advantages in organizations of this kind, which in their very nature encourage a mutual understanding of one another’s problems; they make it possible to share benefits derived from actual experiences and help to create a force of pioneers for social service which cannot help making its high purposes of inestimable value to the Jewish youth.

“I take for granted the physical, educational and intellectual programs fostered by such organizations, but these attainments must be steeped in certain idealism, in order to turn them into something finer than mere material assets. Life is rich in value when in its scope of daily living one includes thoughts of others and so let me hope that all centers are daily imbuing our young men and women with a consciousness of their responsibility to others, a sympathetic realization of the plight of our people in foreign countries, thus bringing about a better comprehension of these problems. I am sure that the necessary aid will then he forthcoming to alleviate these conditions. The Y. W. H. A. and Y. M. H. A. must be an increasing influence for good in Jewish life and affairs.

“I hope that the New Year will bring to all workers and members, faith, renewed enthusiasm, vigor in purpose-with splendid ultimate triumph.”
