Duesseldorf, Heinrich Heine’s birthplace, where the erection of a memorial to the poet was prohibited during the regime of Wilhelm II, has today finally conferred recognition upon its distinguished son.
The City Council in session today voted the first allotment toward the fund necessary for the erection of a Heine memorial in the city.
