To Preserve Cemeteries Where Communities Extinct

A list of all Jewish cemeteries in places where there is a dwindling Jewish population and where there are no longer any Jews left, is to be drawn up, with a view to their preservation, according to a decision adapted at a meeting of the Committee for the Preservation of Jewish Monuments, held here under the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Elbogen. Representatives were present from various parts the country.

The work will e carried on with the co-operation of the Federation of Jewish Teachers’ Organizations. The work will in future be conducted also in close contact with the Archives of the German Jews, the Society for Jewish Monuments in Frankfurt and the various existing Jewish museums. A circular will be sent to the Jewish communities asking them to supply a list of all important monuments and other articles in their possession, with photographs and descriptions. It is intended to issue a volume on the basis of this information.
