The appreciation of the Hebrew University to Mr. and Mrs. Isidore D. Morrison for their gift of an Opthalmic Institute to the Hebrew University was expressed by Felix Warburg, Chairman of the American Committee on the Hebrew University, who is now in Jerusalem, and Dr. Judah I. Magnes, Chancellor of the University, through the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
“I was very happy to learn about the gift of Mr. and Mrs. Morrison, enabling the Hebrew University to add a very vital and important institute,” Mr. Warburg told the correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. “It will greatly enhance the value of the University and act as a beneficial influence for the welfare of the country. Mr. and Mrs. Morrison deserve to be complimented for their far-sighted and generous action.”
Dr. Judah L. Magnes, Chancellor of the Hebrew University, in voicing the thanks of the University, declared: “The Institute for the treatment and investigation of eye diseases comes at a most timely moment when plans for the establishment of the University Hospital are being worked out jointly by the Hadassah and the American Jewish Physicians’ Committee. It will render much help to the country and will be free to all inhabitants irrespective of race or religion. I express my gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Morrison in behalf of the University.”
