May Day Clashes in Kovno and Vilna

Notwithstanding the order of the authorities against May Day demonstrations, a workmen’s demonstration was held in the city, leading to a clash with the police. The authorities charged that the demonstrators were Communists and fired at the crowd. Several were killed and many wounded, including a number of Jews.
