The District Commissioner of Jerusalem directed an order to the Moslem authorities in charge of the property adjacent to the Wailing Wall to cease all building activities in the neighborhood.
Ever since the incidents on the last Day of Atonement, the Moslems have been carrying on some kind of building activities on or near the Wall. The Jewish community of Jerusalem has continually protested against these building activities, declaring them to be an infringement of the status quo. Several days before Passover, Rabbi A. J. Kook, Chief Rabbi of Palestine, protested officially.
