What threatened to develop into a serious anti-Jewish riot was checked by the action of the Nuerenberg police today.

The riots started when 24,000 Hitlerites dressed in brown blouses marched through the streets of Nuerenberg to celebrate the opening of the National convention of the National Socialists, the German brand of Fascism. When the demonstration reached the city quarter near Teresien Strasse, the Hitlerites started to beat Jewish passersby and to break into Jewish homes and shops. The police prevented the spreading of the riots.

In the evening Adolf Hitler issued an order to his “troops” to return to their quarters peacefully as otherwise those guilty of causing disturbances would be excluded from the party.
