The British Colonial Office issued the following statement on Friday night:

“The situation in both Palestine and Transjordania continues to be quiet.

“A small outbreak occurred at Safed last night, which was successfully quelled on the arrival of troops who were on their way before this disorder occurred.

“Considerable forces of Arabs are reported to have crossed the Syrian frontier into Palestine this morning. Aircraft was despatched to check their progress.”
