The Arab attack on the Jews of Safed Thursday night when nine were killed and 28 wounded, was similar to the Hebron massacre on Saturday in the atrocities committed by the assailants.
Mr. Klers, the son of a rabbi, and Meyer Cohen, a chauffeur, were burned alive in the car in which they were riding. A woman’s legs and arms were cut off.
There were also a number of victims on the road between the Jewish colonies Rosh Pinah and Machnaim. So far they have not been identified.
Due to the arrival of a large number of British troops in Safed, the commander issued an order for the return of the Jewish refugees to their homes The Zionist Executive in Jerusalem objected to this order as premature and called upon High Commissioner Sir John Chancellor to have it withdrawn The Executive submitted to the High Commissioner a full description of the horrors committed at Safed.
