Deportation orders against two Oriental Jewish families were stayed by the British Colonial Office on appeals lodged a year ago. In the meantime, one of the families was deported, the other having been permitted to remain in the country owing to the illness of a child. The High Commissioner stated that there is no objection to the deported family returning to Palestine.

The new Temple Emanu-El and Abraham Fabian Memorial Hebrew Free School of Paterson, N. J., was opened with impressive ceremonies.

Abraham Miller, president of the congregation. Simon H. Fabian, honorary chairman of the school. James Wilson, president of the Chamber of Commerce, Rabbi Reuben Kauffman, Rabbi Wiiliam Wittenstein and others spoke.
