Drastic measures by the authorities with the cooperation of Jewish and Arab merchant groups are planned for the purpose of stopping the boycott propaganda.
It was learned that the Jewish merchants of Jerusalem have agreed to sign a proclamation calling upon all races, creeds and religions in the Holy City to “freely trade, buy and sell in peace one with another.” When the Arab merchants will agree to this proclamation, the District Commissioner will issue it over his and the Jerusalem Mayor’s signature, as an official order.
Moslem and Christian Arab shopkeepers of Jaffa have decided to follow the example of Haifa Arab merchants in boycotting the Ruttenberg Electric Works. They decided to discontinue electricity supplied to them from the Ruttenberg works.
