“The arrest and detention of thirty-three Jews in Haifa, charged with murder, who were released Wednesday after a month, was a scandal arising from the well-known desire of the administration to maintain balance between Arab and Jew,” comments the “Doar Ha’yom,” Hebrew daily.

“Arabs attacked the Jews, killed, looted and burned. The authorities caught them in the act, but having taken Arabs prisoners it was necessary to arrest Jews who happened to come to hand,” the paper declares.
