Yeshiva College Makes Faculty Appointments

Several additions to the faculty of the Yeshiva and Yeshiva College were announced today by Dr. B. Revel, president of the faculty. Dr. Chaim Heller, internationally famous Biblical scholar, of Berlin, Germany, has been appointed Professor of Bible at the Yeshiva. He will lecture during the winter months, and head the Bible department. Professor Heller is the author of many important works, especially studies on the Pashitto.

Rabbi B. L. Levinthal and family, the Rabbinical College, “Tachkamoni,” of Warsaw, Poland, has been appointed Professor of Talmud at the Yeshiva. He arrived in America on September 25 to assume his duties.

On the associate faculty of the Yeshiva College, Solomon Liptzin. Ph.D., has been appointed to teach German, and Raphael Kurzrok, M.D., Ph.D., to teacli Physiology and Hygiene.

Jacob Fabian, of New York and Paterson, N. J., has been elected a member of the Yeshiva College Council, which includes Frederick B. Robinson, President of the College of the City of New York; Nathan Isaacs, Professor of Law at Harvard University: B. Revel, President of the Faculty of the Yeshiva and the Yeshiva College; David Eugene Smith, Professor at Columbia University; Charles C. Torrey, Professor of Semitic Languages at Yale University; Louis Gold; Herbert S. Goldstein, Samuel Levy, and Charles H. Silver.

Rabbi B. L. Levinthal and family, of Philadelphia, have established a $5,000 scholarship, the interest of which is to be awarded annually to a worthy student of the Yeshiva, preference to be given graduates of the Philadelphia Yeshiva Mishkan Israel. The scholarship is in memory of Rabbi B. L. Levinthal’s wife, Mrs. Minnie Levinthal, who died on June 27th of this year.
