4 Killed; 2 Wounded in Attack on Synagogue

Four bandits were killed, two were wounded and four were arrested when a band of ten attempted to attack the synagogue in the village Harichew Nowy, near Lemberg, on the second day of Rosh Hashanah it is reported here.

The bandits started the attack on the women’s gallery in the synagogue armed with revolvers and rifles. The police intervened and a fierce battle ensued. Three Jewish young men who aided the police were also wounded.
