Dr. Lochner Beda, well known poet and satirist, resigned from the presidency of the Jewish sport club, Hakoah. His resignation has aroused much attention because of the reason given for his withdrawal. Dr. Beda refused to continue in office because the Executive of the sport club rejected his motion for an amendment to the constitution forbidding members to belong to the Social-Democratic Party.

Dr. Beda has been known for years as the strongest anti-Marxist in Zionist circles, supporting in his writing the Heimwehr movement, in the belief that anti-Semitism in the Heimwehr organization could be eliminated. His support of the Heimwehr has been criticized in Zionist circles.
