Editors of all local papers published were called together by the Director of Police of Jerusalem, who warned them on behalf of High Commissioner Chancellor that censorship will be established if they do not cease to publish news or articles of a character likely to arouse animosity between Jews and Arabs. The government, he said, may be severely criticized, but provocative material tending to create bad feeling between Arabs and Jews must not be used.
