One Killed, Several Hurt As Warsaw Police Fire at Bundist Demonstrators

Joshua Gruenwald, 27, a painter, was killed Esther Katz, 17, was seriously wounded and several Christian workers were badly hurt when the police yesterday fired into a demonstration arranged by the Bund the Jewish Labor Party, under the slogan, “For Democracy and Long Live the Bund.” The demonstration was sponsored by the Jewish youth labor organization at Nowolipie Street in the Nalewki neighborhood. Today’s and yesterday’s issues of the “Fold Zeitung,” the Bundist organ, have been confiscated.
