A reception to Sir Boyd Merriman and Viscount Erleigh, Counsels for the Jews in the Inquiry by the Palestine Commission on the Augist riots, was held yesterday afternoon at the Hotel Eden.
Among those who were present were members of the Zionist Executive, Chief Rabbi Abraham Kook, members of the Jewish National Council (Vaad Leumi). leading Laborites, managers of the Palestine Jewish Colonization Association, (Pica), and prominent industrialists Col. Frederick H. Kisch presided. M. Dizengoff welcomed the advocates of the Jews and deprecated the fact that though Jews were really the accusers, they were forced to defend themselves before the Commission.
Responding, Sir Boyd Merriman, describing the sunrise over the Calilean hills, said he was confident that the rays were emblems of the prosperity which would be the lot of Palestine and expressed the hope that a divine Providence would guide Jews, Christians and Moslems to the restoration of the blessings of peace. Merriman explained his inability to deal with points relating to the Inquiry before that body had adjourned because of professional ethics.
