Fifteen Jewish laborers erecting tombstones to the Hebron martyrs and one Jewish policeman, constitute the present Jewish population of Hebron, which has been abandoned by the Jewish survivors. The sixteen inhabitants occupy a deserted Jewish house. The tombmakers, whose safety has been guaranteed by the district commissioner, are excavating for a concrete canal for 59 parallel graves and a concrete pillar with the victims’ names, to mark each grave.
