Palestine can never become a national home of the Jewish people because they represent not a nationality but a religion, said Dr. Samuel Schulman, rabbi of Congregation Emanu-El, in his sermon last Sunday. He declared that he was opposed to any nationalistic ambitions in the rebuilding of Palestine but was in sympathy with the movement in so far as it offered a home for those Jews who desired to live in Palestine.

“We should not only sympathize with our brethren there,” he stated, “but we should recognize that if sufficient numbers gather there they may create a new Jewish spiritual centre.”
