The Jewish Telegraphic Agency correspondent learns that the new British proposal with regard to settling the Wailing Wall question is opposed by several members of the League Council, especially of Catholic states like France and Italy.

It is also regarded that the new proposal is incompatible with Article 14 of the Palestine Mandate. The Vatican, too, is said to regard the proposal as violating its rights.

Negotiations between the various parties interested in the matter are now taking place, and a compromise is being sought for.
