The withdrawal at the last minute of the proposed reduction in the turnover tax by the Polish ministry of finance will aid in the growth of pauperization among the Jewish masses, declares the Jewish Senator Rothenstreich in an editorial in today’s “Hajnt,” entitled “Should such a minister retain his post?”, referring to Finance Minister Matuszewski. He appeals to the Sejm not to follow the government’s policy and to save the town population.

In the meantime, Christian and Jewish merchants’ unions are conferring regarding a joint protest against the withdrawal of the proposed reduction. A demonstration is planned for Saturday, and a delegation will visit the finance ministry and the Sejm when a vote on the draft of the law is taken.
