“Let our enemies rejoice at Lord Balfour’s death,” said Professor Joseph Klausner, writing in today’s issue of the Hebrew paper “Doar Hayom.” “But declarations such as the Balfour Declaration do not die with their authors. Historic facts are stronger than any individuals or any enemies,” he writes.

Henrietta Szold, the only woman member of the Zionist Executive, said: “Lord Balfour’s great spirit marches with our effort to realize the undertaking towards which he opened the door.”

Joseph Sprinzak, member of the Zionist Executive, said: “During our wanderings among people whose hearts were filled with hatred towards us, we discovered in Lord Balfour one of the greatest of men who symbolizes forgiveness and mutual reconciliation.”
