Samuel Dinkelspiel, prominent Jewish leader and retired merchant, died suddenly at his home yesterday at the age of 66.
Mr. Dinkelspiel, whose family had come to California during the gold rush, retired a few years ago as head of L. Dinkelspiel & Co., one of the largest wholesale dry goods firms on the Pacific Coast, and devoted himself to religious and communal interests. He was president of Temple Emanu-El, which is perhaps the largest and oldest Jewish congregation here.
He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. James H. Schwabacher, and a son, Lloyd W. Dinkelspiel.
