Zionists from all parts of South Africa met here today #o protest against the immigration ban in Palestine. The resolution that was adopted pointed out that the non-admission of the immigrants, particularly since the Palestine government had granted permission for their entrance after it had satisfied itself that economic conditions justified it, is a breach of the Balfour Declaration.
The South African Zionists consider that the interests of Palestine were fully justified by the action of the Palestine administration in approving the admission of the immigrants and that the Colonial Office’s veto “tends to weaken the administration and encourage further massacres”. The resolution pledged the South African Zionists to continue their work for Palestine but appealed for “the upholding of promises made by successive English governments since 1917”.
