Dr. Oscar Gruenbaum was elected president of the Austrian Zionists at the conclusion of the party conference here. It was decided to hold another conference in the Fall to decide whether the Austrian Zionists should engage in local politics or restrict themselves exclusively to Zionism and Palestine.
Resolutions adopted expressed indignation at the stoppage of immigration to Palestine, the British government’s “anti-Mandate policy,” demanded the close settlement of the Jews on the land and protested against the withdrawal of the visa from Vladimir Jabotinsky, Zionist Revisionist leader. The activities of the Brith Shalom were condemned as breaking the national front. A resolution criticizing Dr. Judah L. Magnes and censuring the Zionist Executice was defeated.
