The Jewish artisans in Ukrainia are still highly taxed despite the May 22 order of the Soviet Council of Labor and Defence not to overtax the artisans, it is learned here. The local tax inspectors offer as an excuse that they have not yet received the official order from Moscow to return confiscated machinery and tools that have been taken from artisans for failure to meet taxes.

In connection with this neglectful attitude the Jewish Telegraphic Agency is informed that the Central Finance Commissariat is sending an official commission of inquiry into the provinces to demand the return of the confiscated machinery and a cessation of the excessive taxes.
