Harry Bacharach became Mayor of Atlantic City for the third time yesterday when he took the oath of office. Mr. Bacharach, who is a brother of Congressman Isaac Bacharach, is a banker and is State Public Utility Commissioner.
The new mayor took the oath before a large crowd and afterwards received many floral tributes. Walter Edge, American Ambassador to France, was among those who sent cables of congratulations to Mayor Bacharach.
In his inaugural address the Mayor said:
“I am sure that I express your wishes as well as my own when I state that it is the desire of the City Commissioners to give the people of Atlantic City a clean, honest, efficient and businesslike administration; that we will not have three people doing the work of one; that our employees must be efficient or lose their positions; that undesirables will not be tolerated in our city; that it shall be my aim to make our city one to which visitors may feel safe in coming to enjoy health and pleasure.”
