The Academy of Science at Cracow, the foremost scientific institution in Poland, today accepted Dr. Edward Platau, a Jewish physician of Warsaw, as a regular member. He is the second Jew to be elected to membership in the Academy. A few years ago Dr. Platau was offered a professorship at the University of Warsaw on condition that he become a convert to Christianity, an offer which he indignantly refused.
