The extraordinary court scene of the relatives of an acquitted Arab embracing and kissing a Jewish lawyer whose pleading was largely responsible for the vindication of the accused Arab was enacted in the Jerusalem district court today. The members of the family of Saba Said, a former examining magistrate and member of the district court, who was charged with subornation of witnesses and perjury, embraced and kissed Dr. Mordecai Eliash, Saba Said’s Jewish lawyer, when the court found the former magistrate not guilty.
Dr. Eliash’s defence, which was made before a court consisting of Judges Copeland, Tute and Shehada, contained a strong indictment of Kaki Daoudi, a police officer who was the principal witness against Saba Said. It is expected that the latter will now be reinstated as a magistrate.
