A discussion of the Zionist attitude to Great Britain and the possibility of convening an extraordinary World Zionist Congress this year will be the principal topics at the meeting tonight in the Pennsylvania Hotel at which the Zionists of New York and vicinity will bid Godspeed to the American Zionist delegates who are leaving for Berlin to attend the sessions of the Actions Committee which opens on August 24, and of the Administrative Committee of the Jewish Agency on August 29.
The speakers at the meeting, Judge Julian W. Mack, Dr. Stephen S. Wise and Louis Lipsky, are also expected to give their views of the present political situation. In view of the large delegation from America which will be present at the Berlin sessions, it is believed that the views of American Zionists will exert an unusual influence.
A topic that has been the subject of discussion for many months in Zionist circles is the desirability of convening a Congress some time this year, in order to adopt extraordinary measures to cope with the situation that exists in Palestine and that has been made possible by the political attitude adopted by the Mandatory Power. Both the Actions Committee and the Administrative Committee of the Jewish Agency will discuss the problem.
The Godspeed meeting for the delegates will also be the first public occasion at which representatives of the new administration of the Zionist Organization of America will indicate their political program, both as regards the British Government and the World Zionist Organization.
The meeting, which will be presided over by Robert Szold, chairman of the Zionist Administration, will also bid Godspeed to Abraham Goldberg, Jacob Fishman, Dr. A. Coralnik, Morris Rothenberg, Judge William M. Lewis, and Elihu D. Stone, of Boston, all delegates to the Berlin meetings.
Judge William M. Lewis of Philadelphia, one of the co-chairmen of the Allied Jewish Campaign, and one of the two Zionist members of the American section of the Administrative Committee of the Jewish Agency, will also participate in the sessions of the meeting of the Jewish Agency Administrative Committee, which will take place in Berlin beginning August 29, it is learned. Judge Lewis, a member of the Administration of the Zionist Organization of America, will also give expression to American Zionist opinion.
